This post is SUCH a long time coming… Launch of a long (long long) term project

I won’t share all these details generally on social media for a few reasons.  One of them though is that I think it honestly lowers your credibility in the small business education world to admit this is the first time you are doing something.  But you know what? That’s ok with me- I’m willing to risk it.  Because most likely, you know me pretty well here if you are reading.  For 2 of the last 3 years, I blogged 4-5 times a week sharing not only the stories of so many of my amazing clients, but also so many stories of our life– so I’m also willing to share this joy with you in full transperancy even if it makes me less cool in the small business education world! 😉

I (really, WE, including Michael and Sarah, my virtual assistant) have been working so hard for literally a year…a full calendar year plus a few weeks…on something that we are FINALLY sharing.  It has been a dream for almost 2 full years, but last October, we got to work and decided we were going to create a full scale online course for photographers– and small business owners in general– about Outsourcing.  Because truthfully, hiring Sarah to work as a part of my business completely changed my business- and my life as a result.  There is so much to say about this, much that I’ve already shared! But I’m going to share some of that for another post when I share the details of the course here.

The funny part is that we filmed HOURS of content a year ago…last December…when I was 9.5 months pregnant (because pregnancy is actually 10 months long!), because we were SURE we were going to have it out in February, March at the latest.  And then 2 things happened:

1). LIFE.  I took a much longer maternity leave then I thought, and then spent way more time with the kids this summer than I anticipated, and then had a mandated 7 week break this fall due to no babysitting.  SO…time after time, “extra” work just could not happen– every work moment was dedicated to keeping current clients and couples up to date and still rocking that part of my business (I am so proud of myself that still ALL wedding blog posts went out just 4 days after the weddings– such a goal of mine!).

and 2). OVERWHELM.  Friends, launching an online course is not for the faint of heart.  Good thing that that isn’t really in my dictionary.  🙂 As Michael would say, once I decide something, I’m all in…so we went for it.  But there are so so so many elements to selling something online that I just honestly had no clue about before I dove in.  The good part of this? I love this type of work.  It is really fun for me.  The better news? None of the overwhelm was the teaching part…because the teaching part felt like saying hello to an old, dear friend.  But the other parts took just so much longer than I anticipated.

Speaking of the old, dear friend of teaching, those who have been reading for a while know that I was a teacher in the high school classroom for 8 years, and before I was a parent, those experiences were the absolute proudest of my life.  I miss it deeply in so many ways, so that’s why it felt like an old homecoming of sorts to enter back into a “classroom” (now, my #jgpdreamoffice), work up content, figure out the best, most clear, and also most fun way to teach it, and then put it together and teach!  I can’t say I’ve taught to a camera before instead of students, but knowing that students will soon be on the other side of a computer learning from it made it all worth it!

So– here we are. My first major launch in my business, literally a year (or maybe many many more if you count all those years I taught) in the making.

It starts on Tuesday, 11/27 at 7:00 PM on Instagram Live (with another option on 11/28 at 7:00 PM on Facebook Live- this will be the better one because I can use a slideshow!).  It begins with a FREE online class…for whomever decides to come…all about Outsourcing, and how it can change your business so that you can change your life.

So many small business owners deal with such overwhelm!!  And I was one of them.  But I found a solution, and then spent two years figuring out how to make that solution work.  And I want to make it much easier for everyone else!

So I am going to include the sign up link HERE for the class, but I am actually going to share ANOTHER post with the full details about that class!

This post honestly was just for you, the long term readers, the people who have been here for so long with me so that you know what the heck I have been up to lately, why the blog has been much quieter, and where things are headed.  Writing this out to you feels a little like teaching again- like a bit of a homecoming, because while I hope to reach a lot of people who have never heard of me (which let’s be honest is most people!), you are the people I want to celebrate with.  Thank you so much for being along for the ride.

Full details on the class coming early next week!  Click HERE to sign up for reminders for the class now!

I’d love to, but I teach in the evening. Will there be a “replay” video link?

  2. Teri GUTIERREZ says:

Blessings on your new venture. I’m no photographer but keep me in the loop on outsourcing. You know I’m the worst at that!
