I'm Jill, and I'm thrilled that you have asked me about the JGP Portrait Experience! I adore telling the stories of the people I get to work with through images!
On the left is my husband of 11 years Michael (he's also my best friend, second shooter for weddings, and our personal chef!), and my 3 kids-- our "3 Es" as we call them, each with a name that starts with E! They are 9, 7, and 3 and growing and changing every day.
That far-too-tall-for-my-liking boy in the front? He is the reason this all began for me!
I spent a year long maternity leave teaching myself how to use my camera and practicing non-stop. I fell in love with capturing his little pudgy toddler fingers, his new expressions, and his hair that never sat down straight... and this turned into a deep love of doing the same thing for others!
It all just goes way too fast.
But high-quality photos?
They allow the most meaningful moments and memories to stay.

Our full family sessions allow us to really dive into capturing your family in a slower-paced, personal way. These sessions include a wide variety of poses and spots within your location, and give time for a very full gallery. We include those smiling-at-the-camera style photos and also a wider variety of photos of your family just enjoying each other and interacting (with help from us on what to do!), and photos of each parent with each individual kid.

JGP is known for family Mini-Sessions. While super quick and easy, these sessions include all the must-have photos without pushing anyone too much on time. We highly recommend these for families with younger kids because they are so easy and quick!
Mini-sessions include a couple family poses, individual shots of the kids, kids together, a photo of just the parents, and some more candid shots as well.
We choose the location to maximize what we can do in the 20 minute time slot! Mini-sessions can be booked any time of year on select dates each week.

Our Extended Family Sessions give Grandparents and their kids a chance to gather their kids and families (multiple generations!) together for a truly special, frozen moment in time!
We focus more on those smiling-at-the-camera shots here to get all of the groupings wanted (full groups, each family individually, kids only, kids with grandparents, etc) and try to grab some candid moments in between!

After we settle on the details of your session, we will book you through an easy online system that takes care of everything we need, including a deposit, and then the fun begins! We will start talking location and specifics. You might have a location in mind, or I can work with you to pick one that will suit your vision perfectly.

Next, you will be sent my custom Jill Gum Portrait Guide pdf with everything you need to know about your session (specific to your session type--senior, family, or newborn). It will walk you through on choosing outfits, accessorizing, how to prep your kids for your session, what to plan to bring, and timeline (we usually aim for sunset to get the best light!). I will check in with you 1 week before the session to finalize details and we will be set to go!

Your session will be fun, easy, and stress-free (though as a mama myself, I know that last part is hard to believe!:))! I will walk you through posing and interacting, but I definitely love to capture the natural engagement between you and your loved ones. You won't even feel like you are "modeling"-- it will just be a fun evening together!

Your finished gallery will be sent to you in a beautiful online format within 4 weeks of your session. The online gallery will allow you to download, share, and print (if you want to!) the edited high-resolution files from your session. And those files are yours--your memories, yours to do what you wish with them! Your gallery will be live for 1 month, and you can access it from your phone as well! You also get a print credit to help you get your images in your hands and home.

If you choose to include a Legacy Album in your portrait experience, I will begin the album design process shortly after you receive your digital gallery. I will start with a custom layout of spreads and images, and you will get to edit each of those until it is perfect. Then we choose cover options and finalize details, and your album will ship to you about a month later.

Q: What is a session with Jill Gum Photography like?
A: I strive to create a highly interactive and yet calm environment where you can all be yourself and enjoy your time together, and I can capture the moments. I aim for it to feel more like quality time together than constant never ending instructions, but also keep things very guided so you know what to do! It will feel more like a fun play date than a photo session!

Q: Is a Mini-Session or Full Session right for my family?
A: A full session is perfect for families who are looking to make a gallery wall in their home (or multiple!) with new photos. A full session will give you a large variety of location looks and poses to choose from, and more photos for sure! A full session is also right for you if you have a custom location of your choice in mind (like family property, etc). A mini-session is great for families with younger kids wanting to capture their current stage and milestones, families who want to get yearly (or as close as possible) photos of their family together, or families wanting to update a couple frames/canvases in their home! They are quick and easy for all people involved!

Q: When should I book my newborn session?
A: Ideally 3-4 months ahead of time--but let me know if you forgot or just decided you want one and even if your baby is already here, I will do my best to accommodate my schedule and fit you in!

Q: When and how do I pay?
A: A $150 deposit (that is a part of your total) will be paid when you sign your contract to reserve your date, and the balance can be paid the week of the session. All money can be paid by check, paypal, credit card, or cash!

Q:Will our final images be edited, and how long will it take?
A: I take an approach to editing that corrects for perfect color and exposure. However, I am not a photographer that believes in editing out every blemish and line--I believe in capturing you and your loved ones as you are, not as photoshop can pretend you are! Feel free to ask me for more examples of this. I reserve a 4-week window for image delivery from your session, but usually get them to you sooner!
