Here's How It Works...

After easily booking online with a small deposit and choosing a date that works for you, you’ll receive a custom Session Planning Guide to help you plan every part of your session (especially outfits!). We are a resource for you through planning, and can help narrow down outfit choices, find a hair and makeup person if you want, and will share lots of helpful tips for the day of your session!
Pre-Session Prep
Feeling awkward in front of the camera? Don’t worry– helping people feel at ease is one of our specialties! Your session can be as short as 20 minutes (easy for even the most devoted photo-complainers!), and will feel like an easy, planned-by-someone-else family fun night. Your favorite people will enjoy each other and play–coached by photographers who have years of experience helping families feel comfortable, confident, and happy in front of the camera.
Within two weeks, you will receive a bright, timeless, and true-to-color edited gallery of your photos that you can download, share, and print as you want! You can order prints from wherever you want, or order beautiful professional-quality prints and wall art from within your gallery. You can also add on an heirloom family album that can be passed down through generations...because your photos should be on display far beyond the 'gram!

Our full family sessions allow us to really dive into capturing your family in a slower-paced, personal way. These sessions include a wide variety of poses and spots within your location, and give time for a very full gallery. We include those smiling-at-the-camera style photos and also a wider variety of photos of your family just enjoying each other and interacting (with help from us on what to do!), and photos of each parent with each individual kid.
These sessions are full of variety and a give you very full story of who your family is at this moment! Your photos will be delivered in a beautiful online gallery and your credit can be applied directly to print professional quality photos and wall art through your gallery store.

JGP is known for family Mini-Sessions. While super quick and easy, these sessions include all the must-have photos without pushing anyone too much on time. We highly recommend these for families with younger kids because they are so easy and quick!
Mini-sessions include a couple family poses, individual shots of the kids, kids together, a photo of just the parents, and some more candid shots as well.
We choose the location to maximize what we can do in the 20 minute time slot! Mini-sessions can be booked any time of year on select dates each week.
if you decide you want your full gallery after seeing it, you can choose to upgrade to receive all the files for an additional fee.

Our Extended Family Sessions give Grandparents and their kids a chance to gather their kids and families (multiple generations!) together for a truly special, frozen moment in time!
We focus more on those smiling-at-the-camera shots here to get all of the groupings wanted (full groups, each family individually, kids only, kids with grandparents, etc) and also grab some candid moments in between!
These sessions are such a great lifetime gift for the full family!

FAMILY SESSIONS
Sarah is JGP’s main portrait photographer. Sarah has been a photographer for over 7 years, and has worked as an integral part of Jill’s business for each of those years. She has been entirely trained to photograph by Jill and shares an identical shooting and posing style. Sarah is a talented, warm, and calming presence on the JGP team and will capture beautiful memories of your family!
Sarah is a wife, a mom to an Elmo-obsessed toddler, and has been a big part of the JGP team for 6+ years as a virtual assistant, editor, and second shooter for weddings. She loves spending time at home with her family, listening to Audiobooks, playing board games, and diving into a new TV series on Netflix.

As owner of JGP, lead photographer, and educator, Jill’s main focus is on teaching moms how to photograph their kids and photographers how to run the business of their dreams. Jill also photographs for brands and small businesses, weddings, and newborns. Jill is the client communicator, blogger, and editor-in-chief for JGP, and photographs returning clients for seasonal mini-sessions.
Jill is wife to her favorite person and personal chef Michael, and mama to 3 amazing kids and an energetic Aussie. Jill loves outdoor time with her family, bike rides, statement earrings, and fruit pie!

- Your family spends a lot of time playing outdoors- so it's your "natural" environment

Q: What is a session with Jill Gum Photography like?
A: We strive to create a highly interactive and yet calm environment where you can all be yourself and enjoy your time together, and we can capture the moments. We aim for it to feel like quality time together than constant never ending instructions, but also keep things very guided so you know what to do! It will feel more like a fun play date than a photo session.

Q: How do I know which photographer will photograph my session?
A: We will definitely make this clear during booking! While all emails go through Jill, Sarah is the main portrait photographer for JGP and will photograph all new clients and most regularly scheduled sessions. Jill will offer mini-sessions throughout the year for returning clients, and will determine the overall style, location, and editing for every session–so all clients will get that distinct, JGP-style gallery at each session! Q: What do we wear to our session?
A: After you book, I will send you a customized guide with lots of details about this question, including ideas of where to shop or how to put together outfits from what you already have, and choosing a color scheme! Clothing can make a HUGE difference in the final look of your photos, and I LOVE fashion and love to help you find the perfect look for your family photos.

Q: When and how do I pay?
A:For Full Sessions: a $150 deposit (that is a part of your total) will be paid when you sign your contract to reserve your date, and the balance can be paid the week of the session. All payments can be made by check, paypal, credit card, or cash.
For Mini-sessions: Because the amount is less than full sessions, we automatically collect full payment up front when you reserve your time. If this is an issue, reach out and we can work out a 2 payment plan for these as well.

Q:Will our final images be edited, and how long will it take?
A: I take an approach to editing that corrects for perfect color and exposure. However, I am not a photographer that believes in editing out every blemish and line-- I believe in capturing you and your loved ones as you are, not as photoshop can pretend you are! Feel free to ask me for more examples of this. I reserve a 4 week window from your session to get your gallery to you, but usually get it to you much sooner!

Q: What printing/use rights do I get with my gallery?
A: You will get the full high-resolution download, and a release to print/share as you wish (though I do ask for credit when you share your photos online- you can just tag me!).
