You are not so little anymore, my 15 month old, 24 lb 5 oz boy.  I realized recently that it has been quite a while since I have marked milestones of any sort…once we were past the 1 year mark with monthly pictures tracking growth and new skills, it just slipped away from me! So for July’s letter, I decided I wanted to take a look at the last 3 months, or more so the last 15, and discuss some of the skills you have mastered, some of what makes you you. You are incredible!

You are becoming so very communicative, though not seeming to intentionally say a ton of words yet. You seem to know the following words at this point and have meaning attached to them: Woof, Bye-bye, George (from Curious George books, of course!).  You can repeat a couple of words after we say them to you, including “good boy” and “all done”.

You make your wants and needs very known with pointing and gesturing. You want your glass of water? You point to it with your sweet “fwha” noise that seems to mean “that” or “what”.

There are many items that you can find and bring to us to play with if we ask you too: books, your baby, your truck, your barn, balls, you can identify some people, Piper, and puppies in general in pictures.

You are quite social- if others around you are clapping, you clap.  If there are people to smile at (especially ladies), you totally turn on the charm.

You say “bye-bye” and wave each time you get off our laps to go play.

You are so interested in sound (much to my delight!).  If there is music playing, you dance.  Singing and dancing can change almost any mood of yours.  And you still love playing the piano.

You are starting to be able to put away your toys if we help (and if we don’t get too distracted with our favorites along the way!).

When I’m carrying you, you will either move your head so you are right in front of my face, or gently turn my cheek so that I am facing you directly if you want to communicate something important to me.  It is absolutely adorable.

After any nap or bedtime, you always want to bring your lovies (your snail and butterfly) and a pacifier (which you are only using at those times or if scared) with out out of your crib for a bit, but once we are ready to go downstairs, we hold you over your crib and you drop them all into the crib until next time, so they can wait for you.

You can do the following things regularly: Hug any object, wave bye-bye, blow a kiss, stick out your tongue, blink on command, clap, stomp, pull your clothing over your head and get your arms through the right hole, get a loaded spoon or fork reliably to your mouth, put some food on that fork, hug your toys, “wipe” your face with a napkin, walk really well, crawl up and down stairs, point, wiggle your ears, (sometimes)locate our nose, eyes, chin, and mouth, crawl up and down the stairs, and drink out of a straw.
