High school sweethearts. 10 years together, loving each other, growing up together, before they got married. Starting with a homecoming date. I wonder if they knew then that this day would come? I get the pleasure of shooting quite a few weddings of high school sweethearts, and I LOVE it- the proof that this does happen! Shawn and Luke’s wedding day dawned with a heat warning and a possibility of some rain. I was nervous all morning about what was going to come of the heat, and how we were going to deal with it. But the truth was, we could have been forced to stay in one room all day for all of the events, ceremony, reception, pictures, and all…and it still would have been an AMAZING day, because of the love and community surrounding these two. The weather ended up being fine and the biggest issue ended up being a leaning cake…we just had the most wonderful day and their downtown Springfield wedding could not have been more perfect!
Beyond all of the beautiful aspects of this wedding, and how it all came together, there is a girl who fell in love with a boy (and then went to college and made a million fantastic friends!!!) who decided to keep choosing to love each other every day for their rest of their lives…and that is my favorite type of story!!
From one Kate Spade lover to another..Shawn gave her girls the most ADORABLE glitter Kate Spade earrings that were so perfect with their dresses…and may be on my shopping list!
I cannot get over these STUNNING ladies who were amazing and so helpful and attentive to their bride all day long!!! These Lilly Pulitzer dresses were so PERFECT for this beautiful summer wedding!
Looking good, gentlemen!!!Shawn’s beautiful and amazing sister (and maid of honor!), Robin, who is such a rock in her life!!
I have to take a moment to write about this walk down the aisle. A couple of weeks before her wedding, Shawn did not know if her daddy was going to be able to walk her down the aisle after a sudden and serious health issue. I know how much it meant to her that he could, and there was not a dry eye in the church. I am so thrilled that Shawn got this moment.
If I could pick one church to shoot weddings in for the rest of my life, it would be this one…it was so bright and beautiful! I performed in this church twice in college with my choir and it holds such meaning to me.
Maaaried! Favorite walk down the aisle ever! What a good looking group! Seriously!
Trendsetters Florals in Chatham has done flowers for the last 2 weddings I have shot and they AMAZE me! Two totally different looks, super wonderful ladies to work with, and flowers that are amazing all through the day- they blow me away!
I love EVERYTHING about this slightly unconventional indoor portrait time to escape the heat…they feel a little fairy tale and a little magical, and I adore these pictures!!These are some of my favorites!!
You guys are perfection!!
love love love!
The beautiful State House Inn was the most lovely backdrop for their wedding reception, and created the perfect space to party!! Also…Luke’s talented stepmom Jane made EVERY SINGLE PIECE of decoration and she is INCREDIBLE!!! I cannot get over the details and how amazing they all were- which is why I shared a TON of then!!!
I admit it…even now, 5 years after marrying Michael, I still just love seeing our names together, and the shared last name. Shawn, these are on my mantle now!! 🙂
Shawn was and still is super involved in her sorority Tri Delta- and these girls ADORE her! It was so fun to see them all together, and it is such a huge part of her life and identity!
Ohhh love.
Congrats, Luke and Shawn–sending you much love and we are SO excited for you as you begin this next adventure!!
