Before I talk about this new perfect little boy, I have to talk about his mama.  His mama is named Elyssa, and as I said in her sneak peek, I think she is one of the most kind, genuine, selfless people I have ever met, with a heart that has more capacity to love others than maybe any other I know.  Even though we knew of each other for a few years, I only officially met Elyssa a year and a half ago, when like an angel from heaven she applied to my semester long maternity leave for my second child, that was still unfilled two weeks before school started.   She reached out to me by email after hearing about the leave, and within our first couple of correspondences I knew that not only was she the perfect woman for the job…but that I had to be friends with her!  We met for coffee to talk through it all and I felt like she was a long lost friend- someone I had known my whole life, was instantly comfortable with, and wanted to be around more.  When you are around Elyssa, there is joy.  That’s it. I told her once that I felt like God so clearly gifted her an amazing capacity for love and joy- and that was something that my school family needed immensely last year.  I feel like she was there for a reason- and so many lives benefited from it.

And now on to her family!  She was waiting and waiting for the right time to be a mom…I knew that from the first time I saw her with my children.  And then this fall, I got a text that it was her turn- and I was so so thrilled for her and her wonderful husband, Chase!  And here Emerson is, absolutely adorable, early and tiny and perfect.  Meet adorable Em!
