This was the second in a string of sessions that were of my kids whom I taught. But the first…ever…where both spent significant time in my classroom and program.  They weren’t high school sweet hearts…just friends throughout school.  This developed after. After they had both dated some other people, after they had both learned a lot more about themselves and who they were growing into.  And when they finally got together, it just felt like home. Katie and Blake are two of the most universally liked students I ever taught.  Both of them were extremely friendly with great personalities.  In the classroom and on stage though, they were quite different. Blake was extremely outgoing and extroverted, clearly energized by time with people in general (though he and I both share a need for some reflection and quiet time, even as extroverts).  He was FUNNY and GOOFY and always making people smile.  And literally a friend to everyone he encountered.  I watched him take so many younger kids, or students who didn’t necessarily know others very well under his wing and welcome them into his life or our program…he was just such a wonderful kid- and has turned into such a great young man!!! Katie shares many of his qualities…once you get to know her.  But on the outside, at school, she was quiet and sweet and seemingly shy.  As I got to know her though, I learned better about that shy part. Once comfortable, with her friends, she is a total goofball at heart- giving these two an unending laughter and fun in their relationship.  I know they will make it through all of life’s challenges with that laughter and love. Seeing them together was so special for me…and I know you will be able to see why! Meet Katie and Blake!
