This summer has been pretty quiet at JGP. I took a few weeks off to really enjoy summer with my kids (for the first time in 9 years!), and learned a lot about my business and what I really want my time to look like as a part of that. I took most of the summer completely off from social media so it may have looked like little was going on…
but behind the scenes, I’ve been working on a HUGE announcement, surprise, and addition to Jill Gum Photography.
Ready for it??
JG now has a Studio Space!!! I am so excited for this opportunity and this space, and for what it will allow JGP to do and give to this community. It is in a larger Fine Arts Studio (The Studio On The Square, run by my amazing friend Mary Kate– more on that below!) that I am completely honored and humbled to be a part of, and it has been so fun to plan, paint, decorate, and dream up this space. I have kept the studio pretty simple and a like a blank canvas for photos so that when families, business owners, seniors, and kids come in for photos, it can look like THEM in a beautiful, bright space, and not just my style everywhere, which is key to me in a studio space. This studio is in an historic building in the downtown area, and it is gorgeous. Tall white patterned ceilings, floor to ceiling windows (making it a natural light studio!), original hardwood floors…I just cannot WAIT to get people in front of my camera in this space I have worked so hard on! It hasn’t been used in years and years, and needed a pretty intense cosmetic overhaul but the guts were beautiful, and it has turned into my dream space!
So…what am I going to do with this gorgeous studio??
These minis are going to be themed minis each month (some that go along with calendar events, like Valentines Day or Halloween costumes) that are available for kids (and sometimes their loved ones!)! I will run these on weekend mornings (with some overflow on weeknights) and am SO excited about them both creatively and price point wise. While each month will look a little different, my goal is to make these highly accessible for families (I am hoping some families come back month after month!), and they will be very simple and quick for kids and families alike! I want them to be an easy way for parents to get regular, beautiful, bright, and story-telling photos of their kids and who they are RIGHT NOW! No mess or fuss, indoors, easy, and quick! Details will be released each month starting with August’s minis happening in just under 2 weeks– details coming SOON for those!
Sometimes seniors or business owners want photos with a simple, clean backdrop that allow the SUBJECT to really shine more than the space. I will use my studio for that! While I will still primarily do photo sessions outdoors, this space gives the flexibility for indoors with weather, wanting a cleaner simple backdrop, or other considerations come into account!
I typically shoot lifestyle newborn sessions in my clients home and family sessions outdoors, and that isn’t changing. But sometimes, I know my client’s home just won’t work out for one reason or another, or a family just needs a controlled indoor environment– so this studio will allow that as well! Just reach out to me and let me know that your preference is the studio!
I am SO deeply excited about this space, and can’t wait to fill it with YOU and your loved ones! Stay tuned for the first Magic of Childhood announcement coming tomorrow!!! It is such an honor to dive into this adventure with my friend Mary Kate who runs the Studio as a whole– if you are interested in creative and fine arts classes for all ages, click HERE for all the details (the first offerings in the studio start in just over a week!)!
