I have always been one to believe that a new family begins the day of a wedding more so than the day a baby enters the picture.  A family begins with the 2; with the decision to bind the lives and hearts and bodies and hopes and dreams of two people together.  But I think in general, people to the real beginning of a family when 2 becomes 3 (or more!).  Either way, there is so much beauty in new parents loving on their new baby, who is in every way an extension of them. Exhausted, terrified, exhilarated, joyful—every emotion is present in a huge and real way.  And love, so so much love. Capturing that love has become the very clear focus of my newborn work.  Many photographers do incredible work of peaceful, sweet posed babies, and it is beautiful.  But it just isn’t where my heart is in newborn photography- I love capturing the emotion and the connection between the growing family.  So that is what I have been focusing on in the large amount of newborn sessions I have had in the last few months, and this is a perfect example of that!  Meet sweet, new Cody- perfect, pronounced features, a head full of dark hair, and wide awake for his longest chunk of time ever at this session–he was such a joy to photograph, and I absolutely adored meeting this family.  I know you will be able to feel the palpable emotions in these images!
