Writing a blog post about the engagement session of one of my best, dearest friends, one I absolutely consider like a sister to me, is a bit harder than I pictured!  I met Amy our first week in college, and while in the scheme of life she isn’t one of my longest held friendships, and this point I have known her for 12 years of my life, and the most pivotal 12 years at that.  We lived together for essentially 5 years, (with the same 2 other girls for 3 of those), and I just don’t think the bonds formed with college roommates, especially the ones you choose, can EVER be underestimated.  I adore my close friends from home, who are stretching into two decades + of friendship with me, and consider those friendships just as close. But I will forever say that those relationships are different than my relationships with college friends.  I think it is because I’m not sure I really knew myself, or much about life, until college.  It sounds so cliche, but I really found myself beside this woman, discovered the things that I loved and that I wanted to spend my life doing, learned about living on my own away from home, and ultimately spent my first year of teaching living with.  Amy was my sounding board, my help, my listening ear, my no-cooking-girlfriend, my band friend…my sister.

And she has now found the love of her life, who she is going to marry.  Seth is a wonderful guy, and a guy who Amy had her eye on for years before Seth “got it”.  But when he did, it was very quickly all history.  I LOVE seeing them together, because more so than any other reason, Amy is so AMY with him.  That is what you want for your loved ones…for them to find someone who makes them even more of who they are, who makes them that comfortable, and Seth is that person for Amy.  I cannot wait to capture their wedding in December, and only hope I can hold back enough emotion to do that task well! 😉 Amy and Seth, I am SO happy for you both, love you both so much, and cannot wait to witness your life together!!!
