Fresh 48 sessions happen in the hospital with a newborn within their first 48 hours of life before they have been sent home. They are not something I get to shoot a lot of, and I think it’s because people just don’t know about them- or definitely want a newborn session and aren’t sure they need/should have. But they are one of my favorite things to photograph…I told Michael that if I could get hired from a hospital to do them for each family that comes in that would be a dream. There is something SO special and unique and different about those FIRST moments, moments that are even a little different by the time new families go home.  There is such a freshness, a newness, to the relating and the holding- parents are extra tender, babies are extra curled up and wrinkly…it is just an absolutely stunning thing.

I had the most peaceful and sweet visit with these two new parents and their beautiful new daughter Amelia, who is absolutely perfect.  There was such a calm in the room- these two are now doing something they have always been meant to do, and it seemed so natural for them.  Amelia was covered from head to toe in beautiful coral when I got there, and captured my heart immediately. She has one feature in particular that stuck out to me and COMPLETELY stole my heart–you will see it soon! Meet beautiful Amelia and her new parents.

I think Amelia is already a little bit of a daddy’s girl. 🙂
