Life has such a funny way of bringing people together.  At our son’s 2 year doctor checkup, we mentioned that we (I?) were pretty worried about his speech. She asked how many words we thought he had (the number was less than 5, unless you included animal sounds, in which case it was at least 30. We didn’t really think they counted!), and said that if it would calm our worries, we could get him evaluated for speech therapy. I was thrilled- I just knew it wasn’t quite where it should be.

So off to his evaluation we went, where we were randomly placed based on insurance, and we met Brittany, the vibrant, fun, and wonderful mama in these photos. She spent the next year with Elijah and me every 1-2 weeks and made incredible process- we stopped going once he turned 3 and was more than caught up. Brittany and I were both pregnant with our second babies throughout that time (and had them), we were both married to men who have a lot of similarities, including their farm backgrounds, and we had so much to talk about as my boy caught up with us! 😉

I was so thrilled when she asked me to photograph her beautiful family this summer. Her men happily obliged, even if they don’t all LOVE getting their picture taken (another similarity between our families!).  Her two boys are absolute sweethearts and I felt like I knew them so well from all the stories!  How adorable are these two!?

And we cannot forget our furbabies!!

They are so natural and fun with each other 🙂                                                                       

This portrait location is one of my favorites of the year.  We were just there at the perfect time of day (which of course is planned- that is why it’s so important to do the final couple hours after sunrise or before sunset!).
