After much debate about when I wanted to share all my thoughts on this family session, I decided to wait until the blog post so I could really describe my thoughts.  You see, out of the 100 families I have photographed in the past 3 years, only a small handful have involved children over the age of 5 that aren’t there for a senior session.  I know that what really happens is that life just gets so so busy, and it feels like kids aren’t changing quite as fast anymore…but what it feels like is that when we perceive our kids to be less “cuddly and cute”, we stop getting our family photos taken.  And I just think it is so SO important…and this sweet family of 6 does too.  Marking the final couple of years with your kids in the house, when they are still playful and full of jokes and fun and yes, hugs, for each other.  Getting to capture these much more mature relationships (MOST of the time ;-)) has so much beauty in it, and I loved EVERY moment.

Friends, don’t shy away from family sessions because your kids are older! Maybe not every year or even every other- but make sure to get it done! I know this family will cherish these forever.

To speak about them personally for just a few minutes, I have spent a relatively small amount of time with them as a unit. But I know without a doubt that their relationships are the type I hope to have with my babies one day.  They are tight knit, they truly treat each other with great care, and it is so clear there is so much mutual respect.  And they laugh…they laugh so much together.  Meet the beautiful E family.

It’s not my place to tell much more of their story, but I respect this group, this dad, and this mama, so much.  Mike recently returned from active duty, and I know these 5 (among many others) are so glad to have him back.
