BLANKET SCARF | HOW TO A photographer can have fashion fun, right?

One of my favorite things about winter is scarves. And you are talking to a snow, cold, coats, hats, skiing, hot chocolate, cuddle up by the fire loving girl! I adore winter…so that is saying a lot! I love scarves in the fall too but until it is really cold, one can’t make full use of my favorite kind this season…the BLANKET SCARF! I have loved scarves through it all…the pashmina stage, where I bought the $10 pashminas from Old Navy in every color I could (college roomies, remember that??!), the casual scarf that is light enough to be worn most of the year that came before statement necklaces took that spot in my wardrobe, the infinity scarf for the I-can’t-tie-scarves-with-2-ends in all of us, and now, the blanket scarf!  I am going to share a few different ways to tie these over the season but for today, I am starting with my most worn!

Blanket scarves can look TOO bunch and swallow you up a bit if you aren’t careful, which is why I love this tie so much!  I am going to call it the Blanket Bow Tie….though it doesn’t (sadly) involve a bow!  So here it is!

Blanket Bow Tie

Step 1: Hold the scarf out in front of you in a big square, and fold 2 opposite corners together to make it a triangle.

Step 2: Put the triangle in front of you pointing down, and wrap the ends around your neck, crossing in back.

This really lessens the bulk of a blanket scarf (and also decreases said bandit look!).How to tie a blanket scarf_0004Step 5: You can adjust the part right by your neck, above the tie, to make sure it isn’t too tight or puffy on you to your liking!  The scarf becomes rather small, but still oh-so-warm and fashionable in the blanket Bow Tie– I love itBHow to tie a blanket scarf_0005
