I can’t believe more than a month has passed and I am just writing about this! Busy times, I guess! In February, we hosted my second workshop for moms/hobbyists who are wanting to learn to use their cameras better. I loved every moment! As a teacher, I always work to refine my processes and make it better for my students- so this workshop looked a bit different than my first one. This time, we almost exclusively focused on learning how to shoot in manual, and how to adjust well in many different settings. This is a topic that I think everyone with a DSLR wants- but it is a really hard one to master in one afternoon! But, even after the workshop, attendees get further education with me and from the process, first through a super active exclusive JGP education facebook group though and I think they are getting so much out of it- which is so fun!! The other thing workshop attendees get as further education is occasional opportunities to shoot with me as a group– and one is coming up in the next few months! So they get another opportunity to practice in different settings, and it can make such a huge different for them. And my favorite part is that it is a surprise after they have taken the workshop- it is such a fun way to spoil them!
Because we focused on manual shooting and not style (like my first workshop focused on), I didn’t set up a big styled shoot like I did the first time. We photographed in different lighting scenarios to practice adjusting to different settings, and so I could also walk the attendees through what to do in situations that they will likely find in their homes– which is probably the place they photograph the most! This practical education really spoke to my teachers heart because it is so applicable to when they will be actually using their cameras. By the end, I was so confident that this group of photographers had all the tools to really use their cameras vs just having them, and it made me so excited!!
I am planning another round of this shooting in manual workshop for mid-summer! If you are interested in being the first to hear about it, make sure to sign up here to be the first to know!
I make crazy faces when talking- these were the only few that were reasonable! This is what direct sunlight looks like with clouds behind us- a bit crazy, but had to share regardless! So thankful for these lovely attendees! 🙂
