Have you ever met someone in any situation online and chatted with them for months before you met the in person, but you just knew you would get along?? That was the case with this lovely photographer and me! We connected through a facebook group a long time ago and right away she asked about doing a coaching session with me, and we got to planning! But it was before the holidays, and everything got busy so we didn’t get to do our session until March. In between, we kept in touch, chatting about business and branding topics through that group, and a week before her coaching session, I finally got to meet her at our March Tuesdays Together meeting! I knew right then we were in for a fun afternoon later that week.  Aimee is sweet and fun to be around right off the bat- and she is extremely passionate and excited about her business, and I love that!

We met and did headshots first (because professional hair and makeup doesn’t sit through 3 hours of learning well! :)) and also met with a couple who’s wedding I shot 1.5 years ago to shoot a mini anniversary session for them together. It was a chilly morning, it was a blast! Aimee has been in business almost 8 years and is very comfortable behind her camera, which I love. None of her questions are about settings or posing- she has all of that down!  But when we got to my office, the harder work began with working through editing, workflow, and how she can continue to increase her bookings with high end weddings.  It was so much fun to chat together and plan for how she can make all of her 2017 goals come true- and I totally believe she is going to get there! One of the things I always make sure to do is send photographers home with a real plan– because as an educator for 8 years before doing this full time, I know learning is one thing…and doing is another. Aimee–I can’t WAIT to see where your business takes you this year!

The hours that I spend coaching each month (2 sessions a month) are truly 6 of my favorite hours of work. I love taking what I learned from all those years of teaching and putting it into helping propel others forward- with goals and a plan in place!  It feels like the perfect marriage of 2 things I love so equally- even though the photography piece fits in my life so much better right now than the teaching music did.  I am booking into early April now for coaching sessions, and would love to chat with you if you are a photographer wondering what your next step is!
