She was sitting in my office at the age of 15. A teachers aide for me, we got to spend a lot of time together, and spent a lot of time chatting. Laken is pretty much the easiest person to talk to once she knows you, and I am rather talkative myself in the same circumstances. So there we were, her helping me with some projects in my classroom and chatting about life, and often a certain boy would come up: Brock. He was 2 years older than her, a good friend of hers, and very unsure if he wanted anything more because of that age gap. But choir after choir and show after show, he eventually came around. And here we are, years later, Brock and Laken are husband and wife. I remember those days with Laken so fondly– mostly because regardless of how long it took Brock to realize what was in front of him, she was so sure. It was like she just KNEW he was going to figure it out, and was just waiting. Not many 15 year old girls have that much patience. It was lovely. And so was their wedding day Saturday. Such a beautiful combination of all that Laken and Brock are– and I was so honored to witness it!
