I wanted to pop back in today after yesterday’s Photo University launch with some questions about this Membership, how it works, and who it applies to that I think might come up to try to answer anything you might want to know ahead of time! Click here if you need all the details about the Membership!! But before you read, check out a super quick preview of what the Photo U looks like (a little snippet was taken from a few of the month’s content!).
Q: The Jill Gum Photo U says it’s a “membership program”. What does that mean?
A: Instead of ALL the content being released at once (and feeling rather difficult to get through because hours and hours of content is REALLY intimidating!), the content will be rolled out one month at a time starting the day you sign up! This way, students can learn about one specific concept and spend the month putting it into practice (while asking questions to other classmates and me in the exclusive FB group and also at a live online booster q+a session I will do each month on the topic!). Then, they can move on and learn about a new topic once they have a good handle on the previous content! From a teacher perspective, this is the ideal model for learning content like this!
Q: Is this course for people who want to start a BUSINESS or for people who just love photographing?
A: This class could be for both (including those who already have a business!). We will not be covering specific business topics (like running a business, marketing, etc) but ALL of the topics covered are topics that photographers with a business would want to learn about and have a lot of skills in. We cover topics all related to actually using your camera to take great pictures. I teach my entire shooting system in the Photo U…so if you think you would want to learn that, this is for you!
Q: Do I have access to the content forever?
A: For as long as you are enrolled as an active student in the Jill Gum Photo University, you can watch, rewatch, and rewatch again every month’s content any time you want.
Q: What is the difference between paying monthly and yearly?
A: You can pay yearly for the Photo University and save more than one month’s payment ($36) for paying yearly. You can also choose to pay monthly. You will be automatically billed on the same day of each month that you make your first payment.
Q: What exactly will be covered as topics in the course?
A: I have more than 24 months of topics planned for the Photo U covering everything you need to know to take the pictures you dream…but to start with, we will cover:
But one of the amazing things about a membership model like this is that the topics can adjust a bit to reflect the needs of the students- so if different needs are reflected, I can tailor the topics towards my students!
Q: What will I get/see each month?
A: Students will be a part of a membership site where they will view the content each month. Each month’s content consists of a 30-60+ minute video (either with me photographing and talking to the camera about what I’m doing, photographing while I’m working with clients, or teaching in my office/from my computer depending on what the topic calls for), a supplemental PDF or worksheet to go along with the video, and an live online Booster Q+A (with replay after, because again, I understand #reallife!) with pre-submitted student questions about what they are learning and working on!
Q: I have never used my camera before and am a total beginner– is this membership for me, or is it for my friend who has used her camera for years on Manual?
A: This membership is for you BOTH! We will start super basic– but it will very quickly turn into content that could improve any photographer wherever they are in their journey. As for the early content, for more proficient photographers, I never mind a review of the basics or seeing what settings and preferences another photographer uses– and the beginning would function like that for you!
Q: I am interested in the Photo U…but am not sure if it is for me or if I can do the full year. Are there any options?
A: While I am honestly quite positive you will love the Photo U once you are involved and participating, I understand that it is a big leap to take, especially if you are unfamiliar with me and my business or have burned by lousy online classes in the past! My 8 years of high school classroom teaching experience mean that I know how to teach and this topic is so familiar to me.
But all that being said, if you choose to pay monthly, you can join and try a month or two and cancel at any time if your situation changes and you feel the need. All you have to do is email me!
Q: I still have a question– how do I ask?
A: Email email@example.com and we will get back to you asap!
Do you want these results too?? You can photograph like this for just $21/month!
