Even while creating this blog post, I found myself scrolling again and again through the photos because I just love them…I loved this day…so much! I shared a lot of this when I blogged their engagement session just a couple months ago, but this couple, Hannah and Austin, represent so much for me. Hannah sought me out years ago to tell me she dreamed of me photographing her wedding when she got engaged, and as a wedding photographer, that is just one of the most meaningful things you can possibly hear. And then….it happened! Her and Austin forgot about the fuss. They left behind all the “bigness” of weddings (that I also LOVE)…in order to be able to plan quick and start their journey as husband and wife.
But let’s make no mistake…it was a magical wedding day. While it wasn’t huge, and didn’t have the hustle and bustle, and was calm and beautiful and sweet and intimate, it had all the elements of a dream wedding. Hannah and Austin got married in Hannah’s childhood backyard, among the pine trees taller than their house that were once in their house as Christmas trees, in the prairie that her dad grew up exploring as a kid himself. Her brother married her and Austin, surrounded by their closest family. And at the end of the night, their closest friends joined for some dancing and fun.
Because Hannah and Austin focused on what mattered to them most, there were so many sweet personal touches and we had so much time to relax, enjoy the day, and focus on them (and get a massive amount of gorgeous portraits). Everything was just right…the light, the weather (it was supposed to be massively windy and I hardly noticed it in the end!), just everything. Hannah kept saying it was magic, and she was right. We took photos in her childhood backyard, on a bench her granddaddy built, and it was just so so wonderful. I can’t wait any longer to share!
Hannah got ready in front of a mirror that Austin made for her, and I just love these all SO much!! First look time!! There was so much emotion and so many deep, long hugs…it all genuinely moved me. I LOVE it when my couples read their letters to each other! It is the sweetest! This hug is what tells me that the most beautiful lifelong marriage has just begun… This glow! Magic weather- it was way before sunset for this to be happening! And there was a willow, and if you have been following me for any time you know how I feel about them… So. many. favorites… Hannah styled this simply beautiful reception that I loved so much!. Hannah’s dad and her shared so many heart felt moments in this day (including a first look!)- I loved their relationship SO much. I adore this woman!!! Hannah and Austin, I just ADORE you two and could not be happier for you! I hope you are reading this from your cozy CO cabin reliving all the total magic– I will never forget it!!
